Last Minute Gift Idea!

Airplus Spa Footies are to die for! While keeping you warm, they moisturize your feet with aloe and vitamin e. They come in three different colours - pink, white and purple. These ultra-moisturizing socks are super-soft and very comfortable. They ride considerably low on your ankle, too, wich is great because you can easily manage to wear them with many types of shoes without them puffing out over the rim of your kicks. They are conveniently thin as well. They are really warm and are great last minute stocking stuffers!

Scarf Galore

Scarves are a great way to add some colour and warmth to an outfit!! Usually, if you wear a monotone coloured outfit like whites, blacks and greys and then throw in a coloured or patterned scarf it can really add that extra OOMPH. As well, as the temperature slowly but surely decreases, scarves can really warm you up. You can just wrap it around twice with the ends hanging in front of you on either side, or sometimes I like to wrap it around partially, flattening it out and covering my shoulders. Scarves are hot accessories and are a great way to warm up this winter season, so don't hesitate to grab one on your way out the door tomorrow morning. As well, scarves are terrific stocking stuffers!! Snatch them up before it's too late!

Nice Nails!

One of my personal favourite nail colours is a dark red, or sometimes a dark purple. GOSH Cosmetics has this shade of deep purple that adds dark sophistication. Nail polish colours are hard to choose from, especially when the colour drastically changes from when it's wet and when it's dry. When I go to buy some nail polish, I tend to pick out several colours, about 3 or 4, and do a little dab on my nails. I sometimes do two coats, just to get a real feel of what the colour will look like. After waving my hands around frantically for a moment or two until the polish dries, I make my choice (usually after consulting the person I am with). This shade looks very good with many colours, including black. Nail polish colours can also tell a little bit about your mood or personality. In the summer, I usually wear vibrant colours like bright turquoise, but now in the winter seasons this dark colour can be very flattering.

Oh, Christmas...?

With the holidays fast approaching, holiday shopping is something that we all need to get out of the way. Something that is always a great gift is a gift card to your store of preference. That way, the receiver doesn't have to pretend to like that granny sweater that's 3 sizes too small you were contemplating on purchasing. They can pick out something that they'll really like. Money by itself is okay, but always seem to make you look like you someone who couldn't be bothered. As well, as the weekend come rushing up from behind, try to got shopping as soon as possible. It won't be nearly as stressful as if you wait until the last minute. As well, there is much more variety and almost all the stores are still in-stock.

Buying something like nail polish or a game are great gifts too, if you know the person you are getting presents for well enough. That way you don't worry about whether or not it will fit. Gifts such as those are always a safe bet.

So get up off your butt and get out there shopping!!

Just A Reminder:

You're supposed to change your mascara every 3-6 months because probably by then, bacteria will be growing on it. You should change your mascara, as well, immediately after you have just got over an infection such as pink-eye. It will prevent your mascara from becoming too gloppy. If it starts to smell or becomes discoloured throw it out immediately because it could be contaminated! You don't have to annually change your mascara tube every 3-6 months, but whenever you discover that the brush has dried or changed shape. If you don't leave your brush out, and screw the lid tight on the tube, then I doubt that you must change your tube regularly. Just as soon as you see changes in your mascara, go out and buy a new tube!

New Hand In Hand With Old

Something particularly hot right now is vintage accessories. Something as simple as a rusty-coloured metal ring or necklace is the icing on a great outfit that just needs that extra oomph. Anyone can effortlessly pull of this look if done correctly. Don't make your outfit too busy, try to be as simple as possible. What looks really great is if you have a modern, simple dress (maybe with a sweater in this weather) with a long, vintage necklace and perhaps a ring. Surprisingly, modern and old can go very well together, and usually when they do the end result is fabulous!

Time, Time, Time....Where Did It Go?

After school, homework or work, nobody feels up to going to the gym and just feels like crumpling into bed. The weekends are relaxing time, and time for assignments, projects and cleaning up around the house (and catching up with those lost hours of sleep). Healthy food - as everyone knows - is something that should be eaten as much as possible, but in some of our schedules making healthy, nutritious meals and snacks would take too long. Fast food=more time. Secret's Fusion Shaping Camisole is simply a must-have, especially since the holidays are fast approaching! Though it's a bit difficult to get on, the shirt definitely slims you out, removing rolls on your stomach or from your bra. The low neck-line and simple straps doesn't draw attention to this tummy-tucking contraption. It also trims your hips, resulting in some more defined curves. The camisole is really lightweight and comfortable, perfect for parties!

Article of the Day

The article of clothing that I really fell in love head over heals with today would have to be military jackets. They give almost any outfit that bit of edge. Personally, my favourite look with a military jacket is either a black-based, floral print-corset dress (goes best with a plain, black jacket as pictured on the far left) or ripped, faded jeans for some extra edginess. As well, these jackets have a tendency to highlight slimmer waists, possibly highlighting ones good features. These jackets have been floating around for a while, but especially now in this fall weather, it's the perfect time to be seen sporting one.

Another Time Saving Tip

Do you ever realize that even after you apply mascara and curl your lashes, after about 20 seconds they just flatten back out? Well, personally, that happens to me ALL the time. Or rather, happened to me. I have a plain, metal curler. After curling my lashes, I grab a lighter or a candle and heat up the top of the curler. After it's just hot enough, I push up my lashes with the hot tip (being careful not to touch my skin with it). I hold it there for about 10-20 seconds, and then BAM! My lashes are voluminous and will hold all day. Just another fast and simple little technique that might just save you some cash and a whole bunch of time!

So Little Time, So Much To Do....

One of my favourite time savers is dry shampoo. I know, I was skeptical at first, too.  But if you find the right brand, then no more ponytails for you when you forget to wash you hair! I use Batiste original, and it works like a charm! I occasionally forget to wash my hair, or am too busy to bother. With just some Batiste, I'm good to go! If you don't want to buy some dry shampoo, baby powder works just as well. You can use an old make-up brush to spread it around your roots. The powder will suck up excess oils, giving you a fresh, out of shower look and feel with half the time and effort. Make sure not to use too much, though, because then when all the oils are gone, little extra bits of powder are left over, making it appear as if you have dandruff.
I don't want to give you all my quick and easy tips all at once, so keep you eyes peeled for some more!

A Knee-High High

This fall some new boots are kicking their way in. Knee-highs have been in style for a while now, but never this steamy. These boots are a smoldering statement, and go with almost any outfit. They can go with a dresses, jeans or skirts. And a bonus-they give the illusion of super hot, long legs! Black boots are always a safe choice, but don't be afraid to step outside the box with some flattering browns or soft greys. Boots, this season, aren't very hard to find. Everywhere I look I see different knee-highs, and probably any shoe store-if they are clever enough to-would make a killing by having some boots in stock this fall.
Boots don't have to be plain, either. You can do them up with buckles (as shown in the picture on the right), chains or even sparkles if you're daring enough. Adding this edge is sure to give you that extra UMPH in your outfits, and will give you that attention that all of us could use once in a while.

Jocks Are Hot

Diamond Design
Jockey's new and improved line of tights and sheers are irresistible. As you can tell by looking at my posts, I absolutely LOVE tights. Whether you're a dots or diamonds person, these tights will make you fall in love all over again with your favourite dresses by adding a little flare to your look. Jockey also sells panties that tone your tummy and thighs, and trust me, these ones ACTUALLY work. Another bonus about Jockey is that their tights come with "sandalfoot" giving you the option to wear open toe shoes. Their sheer tights are great for covering up imperfections in your skin, or if you didn't have time to shave your legs in the morning. Do yourself a favour and pick up a couple pairs of Jockey tights.

My Secret

My secret is Secret. Secret is an extremely popular name for tights and leggings, and is without a doubt one of my favourites. Now that summer is coming to an end (finally), colours think their end is coming, too. THINK AGAIN! Leggings, since the eighties, has made a huge comeback and are here to stay. As well, coloured and designed tights have not come to their end quite yet, either. Secret's new line, "Secret Fall 2010 Collection" has these necessities for the stylish and daring. Easy to pair, mix and match, tights and leggings are filling up my drawers and should be filling up yours too. Visit their website at www.secretlegwear.com

A Clean Start

Clean Start skin products are a new must-have for anyone, especially teens with moody skin. After washing my face with the “wash off” my skin felt free of dirt and dead skin. After my wash, I spritzed on the “all over clear” on my breakouts, and the next morning my breakouts were gone! I was actually surprised when this product worked because out of all the different cleansing products out there, only about 20% of them, for me, are effective. After that, I used “bedtime for breakouts” and of course it worked like magic. The following morning I repeated all that I have done before (except “bedtime for breakouts”) and used the remaining products, and boy did they work! Clean Start is like a magic eraser of all skin imperfections. On every bottle, it has precise instructions, ensuring that you don’t mess up the order of application. This product is a necessity to anyone who is self-conscious about his or her skin, or just wants to keep looking beautiful. From my personal experience, I urge you to at least give these products a try, and I’m sure that you will love Clean Start too.

No More Smelly Feet!

Shoes, as you all know, don’t smell too good. Maybe they smell fine when you buy them, but after the first hour of wearing them, they start to stink. There is now a product on the market called Granger’s that you can spray in your shoes to get rid of the stench. Granger’s isn’t only for sneakers, but for any type of shoe that needs some freshening up, like sandals or even boots. Granger’s also sells a product that you pour into your laundry and it restores your clothing’s water repellency, kicks out odours and is scent free.

Another product that eliminates odour is Sneaker Balls. They are little balls that you can put in your shoes (when they’re not on your feet), bags or even lockers! You can place them anywhere that has a stench to it. Smelly things have never been in style, and hopefully won’t ever be. Granger’s and Sneaker Balls are a great way to keep stinky places smelling great.

Don't Compromise Comfort For Fashion

Who says that you must choose between comfort and style? Airplus is an effective product on the market that eases the pain that any type of shoe can inflict. It cushions your foot in the area you need like your heels, arches or the ball of your foot. They even made a product for extra grip on the bottom of your shoe! Airplus is a product that allows you to be on your feet all day long comfortably. For more information go to airplusfootcare.com.

As well, Airr, a fantastic product, makes insoles for both men and women. It's air cushioning with moisture control technology is very effective, and provides non-stop comfort. It has an air chamber that cushions the heel and arch of your foot and gel forefoot cushioning. It also has Coolmax technology that keeps moisture away making your feet dryer. This insole is the most comfortable I have ever tried, and hope you try it out too.

Define Your Eyes

As you can tell by simply looking around, colours are, without a doubt, everywhere. This new trend of ballerina innocence is taking over! Neutral eye makeup has been and always will be flattering and beautiful. Colourful and bright colours aren't a big no-no, but at the moment, colourful eye makeup along with colourful trends is just too much. As you may have noticed already, neutral makeup adds an effect of youth to your face, which is one of the few reasons we wear makeup in the first place. As well, neutral makeup, if applied properly, can open your eyes tremendously. When you see girls with LOADS of dark eyeliner on their top and bottom lid makes their eyes look puny. Neutral makeup makes it look as if your eyes are naturally gorgeous and big. Try it out to see if this look suits you. This technique is not too dramatic, but draws attention to your eyes while maintaining or enlargening their size.

Mix or Match?

The new look for the season is to mix, not match. Blocks of colours add a burst of life to an everyday look. This season go for the colourful look, but don't over do it. No clown outfit is beautiful. Complimentary colours in an outfit always work, but don't be afraid to be daring.

Also in this season, coloured and designed tights are a hit. This retro look can be flattering if worn appropriately. It can add zest to an ordinary look or can completely make an outfit work. But just remember, you don't want people's heads to be spinning when they look at your outfit, so try not to pull of a colour-wheel look. This new style is something that everyone should try out.

Lipalicious

This season, neutral coloured lipsticks are in. Naked lips are what gives faces a natural and youthful look, while maintaining innocence in appearance. Red or pink lipsticks are not completely out of the question, but try going bare for a bit to see how it suits your style. Lipsticks or gloss with lighter and more natural colours is now a choice to opt for this season.

High Waisted

This new trend of wearing high-waisted bottoms/skirts is hotter than ever. This style gives the wearer an innocent, ballerina typed appearance. It elongates the line of the leg which gives the illusion of height and slimness. High-waisted bottoms/skirts have the ability to highlight small waists and for some specific body types this modern style can be slimming. High-waisted pieces of clothing are easy to mix and match. If you are a little self-conscious about your weight, then a longer, looser fitting high-waisted skirt with any shirt of your choice might be a option for you.

Posture Perfect

Posture plays an extremely important role in first impressions. For example, models have outstanding posture with their heads held high and shoulders back. To improve your posture, always be aware of when you are slouching. Try to be as tall as possible, lengthening your waist and dropping your shoulders for an elegant line. If you get into the habit of holding your body correctly, you will start to notice that your clothing starts to fit better, and hang more naturally. You might also start to find yourself receiving more compliments. Fashion and posture are closely related to each other, and if you master both, it ensures you will get the most out of your clothing.

Add a Spring To Your Step!!!

Spring is just around the corner, which means that colour is slowly seeping back into our dressers, drawers, and closets. This spring, little bursts of colour in your outfit is a must. The drab, monotone shades of winter are now out. For little hints of colour, add accessories and lighter toned make-up with red (or pink for the less daring) lipstick for a little flare.
